6 Steps to knowing if you are ready to be accompanied by a life coach
Are you unsure if coaching is for you?
Here are three conditions to meet, if you are hesitating to cross the chicken line.
Perhaps you think you are strong enough to deal with your problem, or to achieve your objective.
Perhaps you are unsure about letting down your guard and telling someone you feel is a stranger about the pain you are going through.
Can you respond positively to any of the following statements?
1. You are ready to confront the situation, with all the emotions and personal investment that will entail, to bring up the memories and reflect on your story.
2. You are ready to recognise that you won't make it on your own.
3. You are ready to ask for help, and to ACCEPT help, to be listened to without judgement.
Here are three questions I would like to ask you that are important in making your decision about what you want for your life:
1. How long have you been enduring the current situation? If it is one month, then perhaps you can dig into your inner resources and find solutions to help you. Maybe you will succeed on your own.
If, however, it has been 6 months or 1 year with things building up, then there is almost certainly a need to go further and be accompanied.
2. What has it cost you since the situation began? What is the impact on your mental health, your physical condition, your emotions and relationships, and your atmosphere at work?
3. If you do nothing or just try to ignore it, what will that cost you in the long-term in those same areas? That is in addition to the impact it has already had on your life, the time wasted, the blockage to your progress?
Are you ready?
